Discover the historic mining town of Crested Butte! During the winter premiers the ski slopes hosted by the Crested Butte Mountain Resort. Downhill skiing and snowboarding are the most common activities in the winter, but you can also venture into snowmobiling, sledding, cross-country skiing and ice-skating.

During the summer, discover the Wildflower Capital of Colorado in the many surrounding mountains with trails for 4-wheeling, hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding! Just 40 miles away is the Blue Mesa Lake (largest lake in Colorado) where you can rent a boat for fishing, water skiing or even try your hand at windsurfing. Approximately 26 miles away is the small town of Almont where you can find plenty to keep you busy--either fly fishing, white water rafting, kayaking or duckying!

If you are feeling adventurous and want to take in a quiet peaceful afternoon, we recommend trying Cross Country Skiing and/or Snowshoeing. Dog Sledding

Winter/Summer
The Adventure Park
New this year, CBMR introduces the base area Adventure Park.  Located on warming house hill in front of the Crested Mountain condominium complex, in the area previously occupied by the adult learning area (which has moved to the same location as the children's learning area), complete with year-round ice-skating, bungee trampolines, a climbing wall and Tubing Hill featuring a new tow lift and multiple tubing lanes. The skating rink is made from Super-Glide synthetic ice and represents the first synthetic ice-skating facility in Colorado. Super-Glide synthetic ice is a high-tech skating surface created by skaters, and the rink was recycled from the American Museum of Natural History in New York, NY, where it was part of a display on climate change. The bungee trampolines provide a turbo-charged, gravity-defying ride up to 30 feet in the air, while the Climbing Pinnacle features a 28-foot, 6-route tower with auto-belay. The Adventure Park will be open year-round.  You can purchase passes to the adventure park in advance with your lift ticket, but you will need to contact the resort directly at 800-810-7669.

Don't pass up this chance to find out about the history of Gunnison County.
Looking for something to do with your children when skiing is just not the thing to do for them!  You can find us at the Trailhead Discovery Museum and Arts Center.  Currently located in the Treasury Building in Mt Crested Butte.    This is an excellent activity for your children when they are finished skiing for the day.  Enjoy time on the indoor playground, painting, playing in the dark room or working on the craft item for the week!  Molli has discovered the trailhead and asks on a daily basis to go there!  Find out more about the Trailhead at www.thetrailheadcb.org  or contract them directly at 970-349-6525.
